• A state-of-the-art race car.

New power supply with 3 times the capacitance. Higher bias current for extended Class A operation. 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms, 800 into 2 ohms. Fully discrete balanced bridged circuitry for extraordinary fidelity. Larger, deep-fin heat sink for efficient cooling and outstanding reliability. Think of Centaur II as a state-of-the-art race car with an upgraded engine. The amplification circuits are essentially the same as in the original Centaur, but the power supply is radically improved. Supply capacitance is now tripled, with 18 10,000-microfarad capacitors replacing the original six. With three times as much stored energy on tap, Centaur II now achieves even stronger deep bass response and more dramatic dynamics.
  • The heart of Taurus is a pair of high-output toroidal power transformers. By splitting the duties up among two transformers, our “dream team” was able to reduce Taurus’s chassis size substantially, to the same height and width as the Inspiration Stereo 1.0. (Taurus’s chassis is a few inches deeper, though.) We also added substantially more storage capacitance to support Taurus’s higher power rating and to assure its dynamics are unrestrained even with demanding loads and high volumes. Taurus is something a little different for Constellation. In building our power amplifiers, we tend to focus purely on performance. But after our “dream team” of the world’s top audio engineers created the relatively compact Inspiration Stereo 1.0, they realized they could use some of the same construction techniques to create an exceptionally powerful amplifier in a chassis considerably smaller than that of our Performance Series Centaur III amplifier. And now we have Taurus, an amplifier that stands only 8.5 inches high but delivers 500 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and comfortably doubles that number into 4 ohms.

  • Incredible, concert-hall dynamics.

The Inspiration MONO 1.0 amplifier easily delivers 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms, doubling to 800 into 4 ohms. This is power enough to produce incredible, concert-hall dynamics with any speaker. Yet it is the size of a standard audio amplifier and weighs just 55 pounds. When you consider that the Centaur Monoblock weighs in at 103 pounds, and the Hercules II Monoblock at 220 pounds, the Inspiration’s ability to deliver incredible power from a modestly sized chassis is remarkable indeed.

    A perfectly balanced signal.

Our Balanced Bridged design can achieve ideal performance only when it is fed a perfectly balanced signal in the first place. To this end, the Inspiration MONO 1.0’s input stage uses the same Line Stage Gain Module circuit found in all Constellation Audio products. This module uses servo circuits to ensure that both halves of an incoming signal are perfectly balanced, no matter what the source.
  • The best possible fidelity.

Achieving a perfect balance between the two halves of an audio signal is possible only when the incoming signal is itself perfectly balanced. This is why the Inspiration STEREO 1.0 uses the same Line Stage Gain Module circuit found in all Constellation Audio products. The Line Stage Gain Module’s servo circuits assure that both halves of an incoming signal are perfectly balanced, no matter what the source. But if the source is a Constellation Audio preamp — which of course has its own Line Stage Gain Module — then so much the better. Because you can then use the Constellation Direct balanced input, which bypasses the Inspiration STEREO 1.0’s input stage for the best possible fidelity.

    A cool, reliable operation.

A custom-wound toroidal transformer, feeding a total of 24 capacitors yielding a combined 240,000 microfarads of storage, assures that the Inspiration STEREO 1.0’s output stages always receive the clean, ample voltage and current needed to achieve maximum musicality and sonic transparency. Massive heat sinks, ventilated through hundreds of ventilation ports in Constellation Audio’s trademark machined-aluminum side panels, assure cool, reliable operation.
  • An essence of our earlier work.

It’s remarkable how much of the technology from the Altair II and Performance series Virgo II preamplifiers is preserved in the Inspiration PREAMP 1.0. The core audio circuits are the same. The power supply retains its triple-transformer design. The dual mono design is there, too. The chassis is built from CNC-machined aluminum slabs, crafted in the same metal shop that builds the enclosures for the Reference and Performance series components. We like to say the Inspiration PREAMP 1.0 is distilled, not diluted. It embodies the essence of our earlier work while retaining the subjective musicality and objective performance that won so much acclaim for our previous preamps.

    Custom-designed binding posts.

Of course, the Inspiration PREAMP 1.0’s most important characteristic is its sound, which in every way lives up to the reputation established by the Altair II and Virgo II. The slightest subtleties in every musical performance come through unaltered. No conventional balanced-topology preamplifier can equal the detail retrieval, delicacy and musicality the Inspiration PREAMP 1.0 effortlessly achieves. The gear disappears, and all that’s left is you and your music.
  • An entertainment system unto itself.

With the addition of several new features and connections, the Argo is almost an entertainment system unto itself. It accommodates four analog audio sources (two XLR, two RCA). Simply connect a pair of speakers and you have a complete music system. Or plug in a set of headphones and enjoy the sound of the Argo on a more intimate scale. All told, the Argo is something quite unprecedented in high-end audio: the incomparable quality of Constellation Audio, with the convenience of an A/V receiver.

    A perfectly balanced signal.

From the Line Stage Gain Module, we route the perfectly balanced signals into our balanced bridged modular amplifier, built using the same single-ended 125-watt circuit module used in our state-of-the-art, 1,000-watt Hercules II monoblock amplifiers. These modules receive an abundant supply of clean power from our custom-wound toroidal transformer and substantial storage capacitors. The same distinctive (and highly effective) passive ventilation system used on the Hercules II and Centaur amps provides ample cooling.
  • Plenty of power.

The Constellation Audio Inspiration INTEGRATED 1.0 is the newest member of Constellation Audio’s most affordable Inspiration Series, and joins its preamplifier and amplifier line-mates in delivering the performance that is expected from Constellation Audio at a more affordable price. Delivering plenty of power, 100 wpc into 8 Ohms (and twice that into 4), a full array of balanced and single-ended inputs and outputs, a home theater bypass, and an included headphone amp, the Inspiration INTEGRATED 1.0 provides the easiest entrance into the world of Constellation Audio.

    Custom-designed binding posts.

Like all Constellation Audio products, the Inspiration INTEGRATED 1.0 takes full advantage of shared family technologies. Its design is based on the award-winning Inspiration PREAMP 1.0 and STEREO 1.0, combining the preamplifier and half of the stereo amplifier on a single chassis. The custom-designed binding posts are the same binding posts used on our Performance Series Centaur and Reference Series Hercules.
  • A subtle but significant evolution.

Virgo III is a subtle but significant evolution of our Virgo II line stage preamplifier. The new version introduces a unique, passive implementation of a digital volume control created by our “dream team” of world-renowned audio engineers. This new control works perfectly right from power-up and doesn’t need the warm-up time of the light-dependent resistors used in Virgo II’s volume control. It’s as electronically pure as it can be, essentially just two resistors per channel in the signal chain. It incorporates no gain and no extra amplification stages. The listener enjoys the precision of pure digital control – with the musicality of a traditional analog control.
  • Simplicity and sound quality.

Pictor is an elemental version of our acclaimed Performance Series Virgo III line stage. It uses the same core circuit topology as Virgo III, and a few minor changes aside, the same separate power supply. The main difference is that Pictor has fewer inputs. For simpler systems, Pictor is the perfect choice: simplicity and sound quality distilled into a single product. As with all of our preamps, Pictor uses our Line Stage Gain Module, a unique design that uses a servo circuit to monitor and maintain the balance between the positive and negative halves of the audio signal. When Pictor is used with a Constellation power amplifier, the Constellation Link may be employed, maximizing sound quality by bypassing the power amplifier’s gain stage. Pictor mirrors Virgo III’s convenience and refreshingly simple design. A front touchscreen with elegant, easy-to-read fonts accesses all adjustments. Frequently used controls are also available on a machined aluminum remote. A home theater bypass mode is provided for seamless integration with surround-sound systems.

  • Furutech’s Top-Tier GTX–D NCF Receptacles… Refinement has a New Name… Nano Crystal² Formula (NCF) – Nano Crystalline, Ceramic and Carbon Powder Incorporated into select Furutech products, Nano Crystal² Formula — NCF is comprised of a special crystalline material that has two “active” properties. First, it generates negative ions that eliminate static and secondly, it converts thermal energy into far-infrared. Furutech then combines this remarkable crystalline material with nano-sized ceramic particles and carbon powder for their additional “Piezo Effect” damping properties. The resulting Nano Crystal² Formula is the ultimate electrical and mechanical damping material – only found in Furutech products! The Pure Transmission Mission The GTX-D NCF manifests a devotion to best performance in every element of AC and signal transfer. Considering that what you actually hear is in a very real sense the direct product of the incoming AC then the final few feet are of prime importance for best performance. Of course everyone would love to make pure-copper receptacles, but its malleability – lack of stiffness – makes pure copper a poor choice. That’s why you’ll find less conductive metals like beryllium copper, phosphor bronze or brass in most receptacles. Furutech’s intense engineering scrutiny has resulted in an industry-first, a technique allowing us to use special Furutech rhodium-plated α (Alpha) pure copper conductors strengthened and sprung by our innovative nonmagnetic Stainless Steel Conductor Spring System that keeps a firm grip yet won’t damage male connector blades or their plated surfaces. But what really sets the GTX-D NCF receptacle apart is “NCF” – Furutech’s ultimate damping material – Nano Crystal² Formula eliminates static, “interconverts” thermal, mechanical and electrical energy and damps vibrations. The GTX-D NCF can be summed up in a word; virtuoso!
